Welcome

Greetings from Nick & Christina Markakis

Christina, Nick and Taylor Markakis

First, we’d like to thank you for taking the time to visit RightSideFoundation.org. We decided to start our Foundation as a way for us to most effectively give back to a community that has given so much to our family. Children are very important to both of us. In our son, Taylor, we see innocence and great promise…two things that every child should enjoy. The lifestyle of professional sports provides us with a unique opportunity to have a wide-ranging impact upon others, and who better to benefit from the Foundation’s efforts than children in our adopted state of Maryland. Regardless of whether a child is sick, grieving, lonely or disadvantaged, they deserve the opportunity to enjoy the positives of childhood and have the resources available to help them develop as a person. The interaction we have with children today will shape the lives they live tomorrow. We hope you will enjoy this site and support our efforts to grow The Right Side Foundation by joining our team in some capacity. Remember, each of us can be an All-Star in the life of a child.

All the best,

Our Mission

The mission of The Right Side Foundation is to help improve the lives of distressed children throughout the State of Maryland.

2009 In Review

Nick emerged as a leader - both on and off the field - for the Orioles in 2009. The rightfielder led the team in batting average (.293) and RBI (101), while finishing seventh in the majors in hits (188). For the second time in his four-year career, Nick topped the 100 mark in RBI as he started in all but two games for the Orioles. He was also chosen as the Orioles’ nominee for the Roberto Clemente Award, an honor that recognizes the player who best exemplifies the game of baseball, sportsmanship, community involvement and individual contribution to the team.
