The Right Side Foundation 2nd Annual 5K Run AND 1-Mile Fun Walk Scheduled For Sunday, August 8th At Patterson Park
Event to Benefit Distressed Children in Maryland
The Right Side Foundation has announced that its second annual 5K Run and 1-Mile Fun Walk will take place on Sunday, August 8 at Patterson Park in Baltimore, Md. The event is a signature fundraising event for the nonprofit organization, which was created by Orioles’ outfielder, Nick Markakis and his wife, Christina, in May 2009 to assist distressed children throughout Maryland.
"Nick and I excited to host the second annual 5K Run and Fun Walk, especially as this event has proved to be a huge fundraiser for The Right Side Foundation,” said Christina Markakis. "We want to build off the success of last year’s race and continue growing this event by presenting an experience where families, runners, individuals - everyone - can come together, have fun and support children in Maryland that need our help.”
The race will start at 6 p.m. and race day registration (and packet pick-up) will open at 4:30 p.m. in Patterson Park. Early registration cost is $25 (until June 30), pre-race registration (July 1 – August 7) is $30 and walk-up registration on August 8 is $35. Pre-registered participants will receive a race shirt and gift bag. Race packets for pre-registered participants will be available for pick-up on Saturday, August 7, 10:00 a.m. – 6 p.m. at the Charm City Run Store in Timonium, Maryland. Awards will be given to top three Male/Female finishers in the 5K, with additional awards given to Male/Female winners in select age categories.
“We were overwhelmed by the support the event received last year from the local community and are humbled that our Foundation has been embraced so well,” stated Nick Markakis. Christina and. I look forward to another great event this August.
