Nick Markakis Assists Maryland Food Bank Distribute Turkeys to Families in Need

Nick Markakis joined the Maryland Food Bank on Saturday, Nov. 21 to help distribute frozen turkeys for Thanksgiving to pre-registered Marylanders in need. The turkeys were purchased using money donated by Orioles fans at the team’s annual Food Drive earlier this year.

The distribution took place at Grace African Methodist Episcopal Church, in Catonsville. Fans donated over 4,000 pounds of food and a record-breaking $31,000 in cash donations to the Maryland Food Bank during the 23rd Annual Orioles REACH Food Drive this past August.

The involvement in this initiative continues the work of the Markakises, who formed The Right Side Foundation earlier this year to help distressed children in the State of Maryland.
