Christina Markakis

The daughter of Michael and Bettie Dutko, Christina was born and raised in Plantation, Fla. The middle of three children, she has two siblings, Michael and Ashley. Christina attended Florida Atlantic University (FAU), where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. As a member of both the Cross Country and Track & Field teams at FAU, Christina specialized in middle distance events and earned All-Atlantic Sun Conference Honors for indoor track.

Her commitment to helping improve the lives of children dates back to her time as an elementary school teacher in Boca Raton, Fla. An experience that Christina is certain will prove beneficial as she and her husband, Baltimore Orioles’ outfielder Nick Markakis, utilize The Right Side Foundation to assist distressed children in Maryland. Still in tune with her love of running, Christina is an active person who especially enjoys the outdoors. But she also has a passion for indoor activities, as demonstrated by her certification as a Spinning Instructor. Christina actually taught the rigorous cycling workout for roughly four years.

Christina & Nick were married in late October 2008. The couple resides in Monkton, Md. with their son, Taylor.
